LoRa APRS Tracker
Ham radio tracker that sends your GPS position and short messages over LoRa APRS, with no phone network needed.
Chipnik catalog@chipnik-catalogLoRa APRS Tracker sends your GPS position, short messages and weather data over LoRa radio in the APRS format used by radio amateurs. Nearby iGates pass the packets to the internet, so your track shows up on aprs.fi. Original project by richonguzman on GitHub, GPL-3.0. Chipnik hosts the release binaries unchanged so you can flash them from the browser.
These are the DIY builds: an ESP32, ESP32-S3 or ESP32-C3 SuperMini board wired to an SX1278 LoRa module and a GPS module. The wiring for each board is in the project wiki. APRS is an amateur radio service, so you set your own callsign in the settings.
The ESP32-C3 build is flashed in parts because the merged image in that release has its bootloader at 0x1000, where an ESP32-C3 does not look for it.
Firmware files come from the V4.0.1 release.
